Dutch Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 The last few trips all I can find is dinks no matter if it is jigs, spinner baits, worms or Ned. I have been in both arms and down around the dam. Have the good fish gone deep or am I just on a bad roll? I have not fished brush piles yet. Is that where they have gone? I'm going back in a couple of days any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 I haven't been on Stockton since May so I don't really know, but I have a theory about Stockton in the summertime. I think the bass are out suspended cruising the main lake and following the shad. They aren't relating to any structure or channel. The other dilemma is that the shad they are primarily feeding on are SMALL so matching the bait size is difficult. dan hufferd 1
Dutch Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 I caught some of those cruisers on spooks a while back. They are the only decent sized fish I have seen in quite a while. I think I'll run up the Big Sac in the morning and see if there are any spinner bait fish in the off colored water. Then I'll go deep.

Members Cobra 188D Posted July 15, 2017 Members Posted July 15, 2017 Dutch you are correct in thinking they are deep I was up a few days ago and I caught maby 18 fish I never really keep much count but only about 3 came shallow as it was getting dark out of 18 fish had 4 solid keepers most of the fish came suspended in 35-50 fow I threw quite a few things at them but the key was to go just slightly bigger than what they were chasing just big enough to stand out from the rest of the shad
top_dollar Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Fwiw I Had a solid lm, prolly 17-18 inches throw my jiggin spoon at the boat while walleye fishing. Brush pile 25fow on the bottom....caught a few dinks tossing jigs at the bank.
