shrapnel Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Anyone bought a Coast Guard Registered Vessel and gone through the ownership transfer process? I was told it can take 60 days or more for the paperwork to go through, and can't get the boat stickered in MO until that happens...was also told that you don't need to get the boat stickered if it's a registered vessel. Of course, I can't find a number to call the CG and actually ask a PERSON these questions.
fishinwrench Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Hop over on the MWBP forum, those guys will have all the info you need on that kinda stuff.
shrapnel Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 I tried that, can't register...doesn't load 1/2 the time, seems like it is need of attention. Probably fell victim of a facebook page.
Members watermen2 Posted August 22, 2017 Members Posted August 22, 2017 Are you talking registered or documented? Documented I've gone through broker and firm in Seattle that specializes in transfers all three times. Kim and associates, he is very highly thought of in the marine industry. If you need more info pm me on other site.
shrapnel Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 I don't know the difference. I was told I wouldn't have to pay sales tax, but the gov could take my 12 seater family boat if needed in an emergency! lol.

If Trump decides he wants to go tubing you'd better have that thing gassed up and running sweet. 😁 snagged in outlet 3 1
Members watermen2 Posted August 23, 2017 Members Posted August 23, 2017 You will not have to pay sales tax, but it is not worth the money. and since the last administration your documentation that has to be renewed every year is now 25 bucks instead of free. Trust me, it ain't worth the hassle. unless you like paperwork
shrapnel Posted August 24, 2017 Author Posted August 24, 2017 Well it is already a registered vessel by the current owner, so I have paperwork either way it sounds like. I have to file for a cancellation through the coast guard to be able to get state numbers for it...it's actually quite a mess I think. I really like my bass boat
