And Jason Hurt, the HP , is the nicest law enforcement individual you could ever meet I did see it was Nick when I saw the report and your right about Jason. He is the same officer that gave me a ride to my old blazer that I turned into a submarine. I also agree be thankful for insurance!!

LOL There is a state law on how loud boats can be though. And they are required to have mufflers, which a lot of those jetboats don't have as they have open headers sometimes. From the Missouri Boating Laws and Responsibilities handbook, page 42: Mufflers A motorboat’s engine must have a factory-installed muffler or exhaust water manifold for noise reduction or another effective muffling system. ■ Motorboats built on January 1, 1996, or later must not exceed a noise level of 90 dBA when stationary at idle and measured from a distance of 3 feet. ■ All motorboats must not exceed a noise level of 86 dBA when measured from a distance of 50 feet. ■ You may not remove or modify a muffler or muffling system if the result is increased noise level. ■ If the exhaust system uses water for muffling, it must comply with the noise level restrictions. Thank You, I just got around to looking it up and yeah no clue where I came up with 165 db from, maybe that is the level where acute hearing damage begins.
Mitch f Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I can't stand to hear those loud V8's on the rivers the size of the Meramec. Flyguide7 and Blazerman 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Gavin Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Can't stand floaters with boom boxes and the jet boat joy ride crowd. Nothing wrong with jet boat fisherer folk. Rarely see the same fishing jet boat more than once, sometimes twice. Blazerman 1
Al Agnew Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Yeah, I've always had a love-hate relationship with jetboats. Love mine and anybody else's when I'm fishing in it, hate any that come by me when I'm in the canoe on some stream that is marginal enough for running that I don't expect to see (and especially hear) one. There are, as we've discussed before, possible negative effects to the ecology of Ozark streams from jetboat wakes, and if that was ever proved to be significant, I'd start calling for them to be banned...the resource should always come first. But leaving that aside, to me it's more of what the mindset of the people using them is, and you can't legislate mindset. I know what Old Plug is saying. The river is the closest thing to a church I'll ever have. You don't trash your church, you don't use it for racing motorized vehicles, you don't get totally stoned and drunk to the point of being obnoxious to other churchgoers. Heck, you don't even cut away a pew that is in your way Unfortunately for me, far too many people don't respect the rivers, they just use them as the watery location for whatever obnoxious and sometimes illegal behavior they feel like doing, away from the constraints of polite and law-abiding society. The jetboat joyriders are far from the only people who "desecrate my church", but they are as hurtful to me as any of the other people who do. As for cutting away tree obstructions, I'm in Greasy's camp. If it's a popular stream with the canoe and kayak splash and giggle crowd, or one popular with jetboaters, I have no problem with removing obstructions that are either dangerous or seriously inconvenient, within reason. But if it's one of my little floated, too small for jetboats streams, leave the downed trees alone. If you're too lazy or stupid to carry your little craft around the tree, you don't deserve to be on that creek! Flyguide7, Greasy B and Jim Spriggs 3

Hog Wally Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 as I sit here and drink a cup of coffee a 60/40 just smoked the chunk rock pile below my house. Little bit of fog makes for a tough ride
