Johnsfolly Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 We saw a spotted fawn over the weekend as well. Maybe it was from from a yearling that went into estrus in Dec. grizwilson 1
Ketchup Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 Thats most likely the case. Always a few first time estrus does coming in late. I enjoy that late rut phase where most does are bred, but the bucks are running their tails off looking for those few remaining. Man 2 more days. grizwilson 1 TinBoats BassClub. BilletHead During one urban gun season I shot a just out of spots fawn. She wasn't more than 60 lbs soaking wet. I decided to keep one whole ham intact with the bone to make as a roast. I had an idea to finely blend rosemary and garlic in olive oil to inject into the meat. I even communicated this idea with Scott Leysath and got his opinion. He thought that it was a good idea with a young deer. I went with the idea, made the marinade, injected the leg, and cooked the roast to medium rare. It was very tender and delicious. If I have the tags I have no problem dropping a young un☺! BilletHead 1

We have done that a few times using a pre made off the shelf marinade. I mean I really injected the hindquarter good! Hung it in the smoker Chief gray bear has now. Smoked and cooked it with oak wood. Darn fine eating. Put whole potatoes in the drip pan to cook, BilletHead misses that smoker for that purpose but it is getting more use now Johnsfolly 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
