AMERICAN CARP SOCIETY, the Trout unlimited of carp angling

it is my understanding incomes generated go completely back into

" promoting the sport and ensuring careful stewardship of both the specimen fish and its environment."

it could be everything from funding research, purchasing lakes and watersheds....helping with more carp friendly regulations like places with one rod rule...(typical euro set ups are two or three rods) chumming bans, as well as length and bag limits even seasonal protections, all to enhance specimen (trophy) carp angling.

what is a trophy? depends... just like a bass in TR an 8# pretty good fish..but in Lake Fork or Okeechobee its 10# or GTFO

in our area 20# or 35" or so...Beaver Island MI or St Larry NY 30#

DU gets a lot done with 700k members...from what I hear, a lot of people across the pond are keen to donate to the ACS cause...

its not a hostile protesting kind of org if thats what your thinking, but more along the lines of Muskies inc, Trout Unlimited, or DU.....The founders are DEF against the current fad of Social Justice Warriors we see today...ACS is based out of Texas and if I was to guess they lean conservative pretty hard.....never asked them who they vote for but see what they have on FB..def red state....sorry if that disappoints you

Back in the '50's there was Pay Lakes where a person paid to fish for Carp.  And you would see Carp in the Meat Counters at the Grocery Stores.

I find carp easy to catch around here if I fish for them they are for the Table.

That's excellent, MOCarp!  I'm glad Carp Society of America is willing to purchase private lakes and open them up to the general public for free.  I look forward to seeing how much research they've funded, how many watersheds and lakes they've purchased, and how many regs they've helped put on the books in the upcoming annual report.  There's an annual report, right?  Hopefully they'll finally be able to get punt-gunning for common carp banned, honestly I didn't even know it was an issue.

35 pounds is the biggest but 20+ was normal for that lake. My Grandfather where he was fishing would catch much bigger.

Some places average around 5 pounds.

WOW... such saltyness....they have already have gotten regs changed in several states, the most famous regulation was the 33" limit on Town Lake in Texas....better bank access, some new bag and length limits in CT for 2018...others....some interesting fishing ICONs are EuroFishing for carp.....but its ok it won't cramp your fishing style ..just wave at the people in camo on the bank as you blast by
