Members KLiK Posted November 13, 2017 Members Posted November 13, 2017 Fished the banks today, didn't have much luck but cleaned up a bit of trash that was on the banks, guess that was my purpose for going there today. Also fished the Island Lake at Suson and redeemed myself with a little bass. Overall a nice relaxing Monday. Mitch f, Daryk Campbell Sr, Greasy B and 4 others 7 ~Klay
Haris122 Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 I like fishing Lower Meramec park (usually without much success), but people do trash it pretty good. There's a dude that I see frequently with his kayak, picking up trash around there.

Makes me with I had a craft to get out on the water. ~Klay
Haris122 Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 I've been a few times with my kayak. Nothing huge caught yet, but at least 1 of the 2 trips was pretty good. Had a 17" Drum caught, a couple decent sized gar, and a average white bass. The other time only got a smallish drum and spotted bass. The part that sucks is that the parking lot isn't close to the water, so getting the kayak there can take a bit. But yeah it does seem like a real good spot, at least for decent sized catfish and such. KLiK 1

In regards to launching a kayak do you think it would be easier to drop in at Arnold park and paddle upstream? ~Klay
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Where is Lower Meramec Park? Haven't heard of it. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. I think if you have a light kayak it’s not too bad to walk the couple hundred yards to the river with it (from the parking lot near Suson). With a kayak over 40lbs though i’d suggest getting a little kayak cart, cause it seems like kayaking from Arnold park is pretty far. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

If you go from Suson south on Wells Rd to Meramec Bottom theres a parking lot just to the west like fifty yards or so. There’s also an entrance on Meramec Bottom just off of 55, but to get to the river from there is longer walk. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Was thinking it was closer, measured it off and from Lemay to Holzer it's approximately 2miles by water and upstream. Would definitely have to be calmer conditions or else you wouldn't have any arm left to cast! ~Klay
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Thanks Harris. I think I know the park. It has the big walking trail just off the highway?
