Haris122 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Was the entire width of the river frozen over?

A few days prior I was upstream from here and it wasn't quite frozen over yet, there was a small part still flowing. For some reason it will not allow me to upload those pictures. ~Klay
Haris122 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Man, that's a pretty wide stretch of the river too, to freeze up completely. Granted current does appear to slow down some there too, so that probably is why it did it in the first place. You walk downstream any further? Before I got sidetracked, I decided to check it out last week at some point, and the river was still pretty open at the little accesses further down the trail.

Was just as surprised myself, thought for sure it would be open in the main channel, as you eluded to though it does get very calm around the wide bends there. Wanted to venture downstream but ran out of time. Darn responsibilities always get in the way of our fun! Haris122 1 ~Klay
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 At interstate 55, east (toward Mississippi river) it is frozen across, West( toward Holzer), there is still water. The bridge seems to be the dividing line. Haris122 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Haris122 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I got off work early yesterday and stopped by Unger to check the river out there. Up by the bend and who knows how far upstream of Greentree Access, the entire width of the river seemed frozen over. A bit downstream from the bend south towards Fenton, there were some sections where the main channel was still opened up. I cast out there a while but got nothing, not that I was expecting any bites anyways. Just upstream of the 44 bridge, at Emmenegger, it looked all froze over again, and back open some a little downstream of the 44 bridge. Mini Ha Ha seemed like a good spot, cause just downstream of the ramp, there was a decent size stretch that seemed completely open, even right by shore. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Is the ramp completed at Mini Haha? Haris122 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 You know I didn't even pay attention to that. I want to say yes, but not 100% on that.
