Finally back from Illinois. Got out for a couple hours this morning. Caught 6 with only 1 keeper. 5XD and jig did all the work. WT was 57 to 59 deg.

I'm ready to get out of Illinois.  The weather has sucked all month.  You guys are 20 degrees warmer than here.  Looking forward to 10 days around Thanksgiving at the lake.  Can't wait.  By the way, nice fish!

Spent the past 3 months in Joliet, so I know how you feel. 1 nice thing is all the neighborhood ponds in the area. Was able to fish a lot after work.

What area of Cape Fair did you catch the Smallie if you don't mind my asking?

 

I haven't fished there as much as many others have on here for sure, but I was out there a dozen times this year I would say and never ran across a Smallmouth. Only caught Largemouth, Spots and a few whites.

Seth,  about a 3rd of the way down the cove at point 14. Hope that helps.
