Thanksgiving fishing

Oh they'll definitely eat it.  Was out yesterday just for a quickie before going to the inlaws and had 2 solid keepers and 5 shorts.  Once you start playing with it you'll be blown away by how shallow some of the better fish are.  

Give at least 3-5 casts to each spot where you think there might be one.  One to wake them up, Two to piss them off, Then two more to allow them an opportunity to chase it down and eat it.  

Swim it kinda slow with lots of short hard jerks.

Happy Thankgiving and thanks for all the helpful tips and ideas. I ended up not getting on the lake but will always report back when I am able. I did get a quick trip on Beaver in and got the skunk out but that's about it.

I fished the AIA Tourney Sat 200+ boats.  Not a single keeper largemouth...tons of Kentuckies.  3 bags over 20 brought in and big fish was 7.02lbs.  I suck.

When I lived in Texas the lipless crank baits is about all we threw in the winter.  The best months for it was January and February the coldest part of the year.

As long as the fish aren't out suspended I feel like I can keep catching them on it.  I'm afraid that once the bass pull off the flat sides of the lake I won't be able to keep the lipless cranks close enough to them.    We'll see.  

I'd sure like to see this Winter stay rather mild.

We got on a bluff end the spots were stacked up and smashing jerkbaits...I tried yo yoing a lipless and didn't get touched.  It wasn't a real aggresive bite either, many of the fish we caught on jerks were back hook only.  Seemed like they wanted a longer pause then I expected fro 54* water.

I think you are right, Wrench.  They seem to suspend deeper here in the winter and the lipless is not effective.  Down south they spread out on the hydrilla flats and that bait is perfect for covering water.  The fish are not that spread out you just have to cover a lot water to find the sweet spots on those big flats.

Went for a little walk down the bank this afternoon.  They are still there, and still hammering the lipless crank.  3 keepers and 7-8 shorts in less than an hour.  Snapped a pic of the best one.
