Members BillT Posted December 11, 2017 Members Posted December 11, 2017 I have purchased Pline Floroclear which is a fluorocarbon coated line. What does that mean? I have found it stiff and kinks and while it works for heavier weights, 3/8 oz and above, it doesn't work well for 4# line. Is flourocarbon better than this stuff. I'd rather stay with Mono
fishinwrench Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Flouroclear is a "co-polymer" line. Flourocarbon coated monofilament. I actually liked it before P-Line CX Premium came along (which is also a co-poly). All 100% florocarbon gets kinks, especially in the cold. Nature of the beast I think. I still like it better than mono because of its abrasion resistance and slightly lower stretch. Mitch f 1
moguy1973 Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Ask Bassmaster#1 on here about Fluoroclear. He’s lost more fish and lures using that stuff. Not sure why he still uses it. Snaps on casts, snaps on hookups. CX Premium is so much better of a line in my experience. Mitch f Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I usually use Yozuri hybrid which is a copolymer. But lately because of this very clear water, I’ve been using Seagaur InvizX. It has a pretty smooth surface finish, which reduces the friction, (and therefore heat) that is created when cinching the knot. This equates to not as much damage and more strength. It’s also very supple for a 100% fluorocarbon. It does have a little more stretch than I like but overall seems pretty good. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Members BillT Posted December 11, 2017 Author Members Posted December 11, 2017 Thanks, too many different lines for me, but I like to try them.
Ranger520vx Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I tried fluorclear about 5 years ago. I fished one tournament and a couple times just out fishing and took it off all my reels. It kept breaking on the hook sets.
