Dutch Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Anyone been to any of these places lately? I'm wanting to drown some spoons on Friday if there is open water and ramp access. Appreciate any info.
CoolHandFluke Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Have not been up to Stockton However, Spring river west of Joplin is frozen solid enough to walk on (really ruined my fishing plans yesterday!). If moving water is frozen like that I would imagine the lake has quite a bit on ice on it. terryj1024 and grizwilson 1 1
Members bassnut Posted January 3, 2018 Members Posted January 3, 2018 Just drove up to Stockton to look around. Turkey and maize were frozen from the bridges as far out as I could see. Open water on little sac and big sac as far as I could see in either direction from mile long bridge. At state park old ramp was open water and at marina ramp there was open water. Didn’t go to Crabtree but would guess it is open water there also. Saw 1 boat on water.
waterpossum Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I was at the Ruark ramp yesterday afternoon about 2 p.m. and it was still usable. There was a thin ice sheet at that time that was nearly to the ramp. I'm sure it has probably extended and thickened some since then, but the duck hunters that have been launching there should have it busted up. Sorry, no info on the N. end of the lake.
Dutch Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 Thanks guys. I've got a date with a spot that Powerdrive told me about. It was too windy to really fish it last time out. After 3 fish I got tired of the wind and moved on. I'll probably launch at Hartley as I used to get some good winter eyes inside it. dan hufferd 1
