They've done that at a number of metro lakes in NE. Pawnee, Wehrspann and Louisville #2. Branched Oak in NE has a catch and release policy on Flathead Cats and Wipers in order to have them for White Perch control. Not that people follow that rule...
Browning Guy Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Bass Tournaments - 2 or MAYBE 3 bass weigh-in per team. Large mouth slot length limit? or increase to 17" every odd year. Crappie - enforce the 10" length limit or increase it to 12" every odd year. Have game cam photos/videos from the dock showing crappie being thrown in live wells that CANNOT be 10". I can't remember the last time a game warden stopped me to check live wells. Catch & release for us generally, but if a Walleye or decent crappie come along we keep JUST ENOUGH to have a fish fry for our family of four once or twice per year. More and more consistent game checks on the water and at the entrance of the parks as folks are leaving. No offense to residents on TR, but in the 80's there were folks that lived in Buttermilk that if it had gills it went in the grease. Size limit? We don't need no stinking size limit! was the attitude. With all of the work of "catch n release" there's just as many that take more than needed. The excuse not to enforce or be more involved in building a fishery...... not enough money. vernon, evilcatfish and terryj1024 3

I totally agree we need changes maybe only 10 per day instead of 15 on Table Rock or maybe 11 in instead of 10 in or maybe no fishing in the spring to let them spawn

Champ188 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 A sizable but not huge group of bass anglers were able to bring about a number of changes back in the 90s in Arkansas by getting the AGFC to sit down and discuss our concerns and wishes. Three things that I remember well getting done were supplemental stocking of smallmouth bass into Lake Ouachita, fewer stripers stocked into Lake Ouachita, and stiffer regulations for spearfishing, which is extremely popular on Ouachita because of its incredible water clarity. If the MDC would be willing to come to the table (pun intended) in a public forum about our Table Rock concerns, perhaps we could get their attention. But for individuals to write letters and make phone calls, it's too easy to toss those into file 13 or forget what was said as soon as the receiver goes back in the cradle. terryj1024, merc1997 Bo, Donna G and 4 others 7
