Members Lead Head Posted January 20, 2018 Members Posted January 20, 2018 South End of the lake has a lot more ice than the north end. A person should be able to fish tomorrow near the dam if the ice doesn't shift much tonight. Wear a life jacket and be safe.
nhornback Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 If anyone gets out today an update on the ice would be appreciated as im going to try and go sunday for first time in months!
smbasser Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 I have no idea how the city ramp is west of dam. This is the ramp at RB, Roark Bluff. I heard the hawkers point ramp was open dprice 1
MrGiggles Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Anyone make it out today? I would have been willing to give it a try but the boat is all torn apart to replace the transom wood, and I'm not even sure if any of the southern ramps are open. With the wind and warmth the past couple days, I couldn't imagine the ice sticking around long. -Austin
Members Bassin' fool Posted January 21, 2018 Members Posted January 21, 2018 I put in at orleans trail yesterday, with the warm up and wind there was a lot of ice breaking off and floating across the lake. But everything looked fairly open from about 215 bridge to the dam, just some ice in the backs of the coves. Water temp was 36-38 dan hufferd 1
Members stickbait Posted January 22, 2018 Members Posted January 22, 2018 Went up to Mutton Creek to check on the boat today, most of the cove from the break wall on in was iced over. A lot of the ice had water on the surface so it looked like water but was actually clear ice most I seen was 1/4 to about 3/4 thick. Also the backs of Maze and Turkey creeks were both iced from shore to shore.
Members audiochem Posted January 23, 2018 Author Members Posted January 23, 2018 Got fricking food poisoning last Saturday. It was so bad I couldn’t go fishing! Still haven’t fished this year. On the plus side, vomiting really works your core. I’m sore as heck Going this weekend for certain
