shrapnel Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Have never tried them before, bought the KVD version for like 8 bucks and couldn't be more disappointed. Supposed to help eliminate memory and lessen ice build up. Followed the instructions and notice ZERO difference, even on 4lb test. Anybody used one that seemed to help? I think it's a gimmick.
fishinwrench Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I'm no chemist but I know that the only thing you can put on mono or flouro that will lessen it's memory is steaming hot water. There's lots of things you could put on it that will make it slicker (for a minute or two), but what good is does having your line slick and smooth for 8-12 casts do, unless your fishing trips are REALLY short?

shrapnel Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 Ya, the hot water works, until you make your first cast into 35* water Like I said, never tried any of the Reel Magic type "line conditioners" until now, and was as disappointed as I expected to be,
fishinwrench Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I've never heard anyone say "oh crap I'm almost out of line conditioner, need to get some more asap".

I've never heard a lot of things said. Was just looking for some feedback on a line of products that has been around for a long time and sharing my opinion. I don't mind kinky, unless were talking fishing line.
Basfis Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I have used the blakemore stuff to lengthen time for ice buildup. Made for more casts and did help the eyelets repel. No difference on line management tat I could tell. Same for the ardent stuff
Smalls21 Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 i have used the Ardent line butter before, it seems to help the line a little, but i have not used it in 35* water either
Hog Wally Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I've been using Pam olive oil cooking spray. It worked Sunday in 17 degree air temps. We cleaned our guides thoroughly before we sprayed it on. The first application lasted the longest. It was kinda downhill from there. But it helped us boat nearly 50 fish in Otherwise impossible conditions.
