Hi

My dad, brother and I are going fishing at the Niangua arm of Lake of The Ozarks May 7th to the 11th.  We are going to be staying at Kon Tiki Resort.  I've never been fishing at Lake of The Ozarks.

My dad and brother are mainly fishing for crappie.  I don't care much for pan fishing and was wondering about other species of fish in the Niangua arm... Does that part of the lake have a good walleye population??  What are the best ways to catch walleye there this time of year??  Is there any pure striped bass in Niangua, or just hybrids and white bass??  What are the best ways to catch them??  I've heard that Niangua also has some muskies that escaped from Pomme de Terre... How many do u think are in there??  Would it be worth my time to put on a muskie lure??  Have there been any recent sightings of muskie??
Besides largemouth and catfish what other sport fishes are there to catch in the Niangua arm??

Thanks for your help  :)

There's Walleye here but not enough to make it worthwhile to target them. Most are just bonus fish caught by accident.  I've never heard of a Muskie caught on the LOZ either. There are a few pure Stripers but again not enough to make it a target fish. The Hybrid Stripers are fun if you can find them and are common up to about 10 pounds. The Crappie and Bass should be really good when you are here.

Thanks for the information.... I don't really like fishing for largemouth or crappie....  Guess I'll find something else to do.

Might I ask why?

I can understand liking another species better, but, golly, any fishing is better than finding something else to do. I'll fish for tiny long ear rather than skip fishing...

We are staying at the same resort this weekend.  We have been going down there for several years and it is a great resort for white bass too, but mainly in the fall.  never caught a single walleye down there and don't see many people targeting the stripers.  Fishing for crappie is great down in that area, and bass is hit or miss depending on where the spawn is at.  you might have a ton of fun fishing topwater.  I think we will be a weekend early for that topwater bite.
