Lifes2Short Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Wonderful morning on the water with my good friend Everett Hayes! The crappie were really on the bite today! Sons Creek, 10’ deep, jigs, color didn’t seem to matter. Mostly nice females with eggs....still. Tight Lines! #dbllimit+ #itswhats4dinner terryj1024, Old dog 417, dan hufferd and 2 others 5
Members Oberst Posted May 7, 2018 Members Posted May 7, 2018 Dang it!! I’m coming down tomorrow from St Louis. A week ago the water was still cold and fishing spotty. Trolled up some crappie but haven’t got in on shallow bite and hope to now. Stop by if you see black Alumacraft tiller, probably with canvas top up. Lifes2Short 1
Members VJMAC Posted May 7, 2018 Members Posted May 7, 2018 DANG ! I was there yesterday for a couple hours beating the banks looking for some spawners. Only managed 6 males. Was thinking i might have missed it ! Maybe not ?? Been tearing them up on Pomme past two weeks. 300+. Size of keepers is steadily getting smaller there. Mostly males know. Stockton is about 5deg cooler then Pomme. Atleast where i fished. I did notice that most people where fishing off the banks in deeper water. Thats what i get for being bull headed!! Lifes2Short 1
Targa98 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 We were up Sunday morning and had limits by 10 am. Great Morning! after cleaning them the were alot of males and several females but only 1 still with eggs. The others were spawned out. All in all it was an amazing morning and we had just as many short fish as we did keepers. Biggest fish was only around 14". SEE May 6th Crappie hunt post for more info Lifes2Short 1

Put the boat in 12 to 14 feet of water and cast towards the bank and reel back very slowly.
Targa98 Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Couldnt have said it any better 2Short. When that bite slowed down at 8 am we actually just dropped our road runners down and turned the trolling motor on to around 3 speed (on MY 55lb) (pretty slow still) and just stayed between 12-15 ft and started catching them that way Lifes2Short 1
JCreek Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Caught some yesterday in the Masters area while working the banks with a blue Shad-Rap. Pre-spawn female pretty good sized. And working the bank I picked up a nice Walleye. A (too short) small mouth took it on the "plop" with 2 others following it to the boat. Time for Hula Poppers perhaps? Or do they still make those. Mine may be wooden....... I hadn't been out in over a week. Could not believe the water was already 72 in spots.
MrGiggles Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 I was out on Sunday and last night. I put in at cedar ridge and went on past the 245 bridge. I caught several nice males right on the bank, and a few decent females on brush in 12-14ft. Same story last night, although the bite wasn't as good. I also caught a decent channel cat, two keeper LMB, and a drum. -Austin
