Blll Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Had a 10 yr old bait caster start squealing this morning. I've got some Cabela's points saved up, plus they have a Lifetime warranty on all their branded stuff so I thought I would check them out. I know the top end reels were made by Diawa. Guess what, no more Cabela's brand baitcaster reels on website. Not even any of their depthmaster line counters. I'll check the store next few days but I'm afraid the Cabela's branded items may be on the endangered list. That lifetime warranty must not sit right with the BP beancounters. zarraspook 1
Stump bumper Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Don't walk into Cabela's with one of the Shimano Rods that had a "lifetime guarantee" unless you have the receipt and purchased in the last 30 days. Lifetime means until we change our minds not YOUR lifetime. My Brand loyalty is gone, I will stick to cheapest and throw it away. Seems to be all cheap Chinese stuff anymore anyway. As far rod and reels I have to Academy brands.
Old dog 417 Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 I don't know about Cabela's bait casters but their Depthmaster III line counter reels and rod/reel combos are still available. Although a couple of reel models are out of stock they are listed as available via back-order. Perhaps Cabela's has a glitch in their website as to how it processes reel searches? od

Blll Posted May 26, 2018 Author Posted May 26, 2018 Diawa made Cabela's bait cast reels. BP currently has no relationship with Diawa so right now there are no Cabela's branded bait cast reels. End of story.
Bill Babler Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 And rumor has it there is going to be NO Cabela's pretty "Toot Sweet." Rumor from Big Cedar here on the Rock is what is now know as Bass Pro Shop and Cabela's is going to be know only as BP really quick. Neither Shimano or Daiwa have a good working relationship with BP. They are never involved on their reel trade in program. BP has burnt bridges with both companies. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members Randy Moore Posted May 29, 2018 Members Posted May 29, 2018 Not good - Cabela's was always a step up the ladder from Bass Pro. This is going to hurt the business in my opinion. I'll start dealing with the local suppliers like Extreme Outdoors in Branson West for everything.
tjm Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I've always been leery of businesses with Extreme in their name, it just sounds soooo pretentious. fishinwrench 1
Blll Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 Went to the Cabela's in Rogers today. Clearance cave is 75% off and just about bare. I don't see it coming back...ever. I don't mind BP but Cabela's had enough different products to make it noticeable. I've ranted before about Cabela's in Rogers lack of stock. No different today. Plenty of empty hooks. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
tjm Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Way back a year or two, it was prophesied by quite a few that BP would take the boat company and scrap the stores of Cabela's, what ever the boats are or were. In my estimation both BP and Cabela's are clothing stores first and foremost with guns as a draw factor, like milk in a super market and tackle is just a side line. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
