I find that size 20-24 get significantly more bites than 16-18 on my dries at Bennett.

Nope, a #16 is 11-12mm

We're not measuring the hook here, we're measuring the completed fly.

This MotoZ has a beast camera, I'm always shocked at how well the pics turn out.

Looks good.  I don't think I own a hook smaller than 18 though.  Those little dog pecker gnats drive me nuts tying them.

Good thing I don't spend alot of time on Bennett. 

Fished local stocked pond today with a size 14 bead head nymph and was yanking them out fast enough.  Tried to get the grandkid to settle down and cast, but did not work.  Let him land some of mine.  At least he did not hook himself.
