I have fished a bottom bouncer rig in 5 to 10 feet of water on several occasions. That it why I have 1/2 ounce bouncers in my bag. BTW that shallow only works with a dragged rig if the water is deeply stained or muddy. If the fish are that shallow and the water is clearer,  put a Zman Slim Swimz on a Ned head and bounce/swim it to the boat.

Dan you and RPS are very knowledgeable about these walleyes. There's a guy up at Stockton, goes by Lmtout, that knows quite a bit too. One of these days i would like to fish with you RPS down at TR for these walleyes. Pick your brain. I agree that the water at Cherry Creek had a lot more color to it than TR or Stockton! I've been told one oz bottom bouncer for every 10 ft of water?? My problem is i only have a 12 volt trolling motor so i have to use the gas motor when dragging those bottom bouncers around. I hate that!! Also my depth sounder does NOT have a mph on it so i am always just guessing!! But i have caught a few!! I really prefer using the wind as my power! Drift some points and flats. Nice and quiet!! Dan: I havent tried vertically jigging a Binks spoon but i notice you have success!! Anyway, I know this is mostly a bass forum but i love talking eyes with you boys.

You are welcome in my boat.

Let's give the fish time to settle after the February/March spawn and plan a weekend trip in April or May where we can top water fish in the morning and chase walleye after that.

As for the trolling motor limitation, many up North "backtroll". They use the main motor in reverse to go more slowly.

The idea of using the wind to drift is good as well but you will need to use the TM to follow the break lines.

I'm the newbie, the other 2 guys you mentioned are the folks i look up to.

Best advice i can give is fish habitat, many times you will not see them on the graph.

It's a faith thing many times, you will find yourself saying "I know they are here."

I use the gas motor all the time, it works great,  1mph or less.
