Members justfishing Posted January 30, 2019 Members Posted January 30, 2019 Looking for advise and Pro's and Con's Big motor support!!!! Have new boat at which came from dealer with swivel eze transom bar ( Bat that goes from motor to trailer ) My old boat had a Swivel lock bracket on it from day I got it . Question is which is recommended and best for long term???? Thank for all inputs !!!!!
dblades Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Mine have always been motor to transom, never tried the newer styles.
fishinwrench Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 The one you have is best. Just make sure the transom tie-downs are also secure. motoman 1
fozzype Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Physics will tell you your secure it from the motor to the trailer. Like Wrench said, be sure to secure it the boat to the trailer. Other opinions on this are based on a lack of facts or mis information. Also, always tighten and check motor to transom bolts regularly as they cause most problems. B. Foz
Basfis Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Ironically all the old boats with failed transoms used to toter to trailer support. I’m a fan of the sticks over trim or if u have a mercury, the swivel bracket that uses trim holes. I have NEVER seen a motor bounce in my truck mirror like it does in rough water... transoms are way better than they were years ago when motor toters to the trailer were a thing. Or, avoid low profile reels, fuel injection, radial tires and fluorocarbon line too 🙂 fozzype 1

The new-style toters haven't been out that long so naturally all of the old boats with failed transoms used motor-to-trailer support. I also use the snap-on stops for hydraulic steering that keep the motor from shaking side-to-side while trailering. May help, may not but certainly doesn't hurt. Basfis and big c 2

How many times have you launched and forgot to pop those off? 😁
Members justfishing Posted February 1, 2019 Author Members Posted February 1, 2019 Thanks guy's for all your input's !!!!! I am guessing it is up to that person for which design they want to use. But in my case I can find the lock and tow at this time for the new mercury 4 strokes
