looking to tie some basic marabou jigs for whites, crappie and trout.  I'll use em primarily on a fly rod but will put headier ones on a spinning rod.  size range from 1/8 down to 1/100.

what jig head do you use for these jigs?  straight shank or you do you prefer a barb on the bottom of the jig head to hold the material on, like a more traditional style of jighead?

do you powder coat your own or buy em already colored?  Im thinking already painted sounds alot easier.

http://DSC00039.jpgI don't tie that small 1/32 is as small as I use.  I pour and paint my own.  I use a fluid bed and powder paint my heads.  I use a ball head or minnow head and like to tie straight to the hook with no lead appendages to get in my way and make the jigs too bulky and awkward looking.

I buy most of my jigs heads from flatheadjig.com or stock up on the new Lilleys jig head when I get down to Taneycomo. Powder painting is preferable, but I've been using Sally Hansens nail polish on my jig heads for years. I like a collared jig for anything 1/32oz and heavier, but collarless for anything smaller.
