Members MCrump Posted March 16, 2019 Members Posted March 16, 2019 This will be getting away from Pomme de Terre Lake, but in regards to the Pomme River, this dropped pin area is good for fall crappie and fall and spring whites (and for my buddy last fall, hybrids, sucked missing out on that one.) From the pin, going upriver to the first riffle is a good area for whites. The term first riffle should be used loosely though, that depends on Truman level and if there is a wet spring they will let that resevoir climb and climb and climb. On that note, MoPan, do you know if Ameren pays the Core to hold that really high sometimes to prevent property damage along the shores of LOZ?
MOPanfisher Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 Ameren wishes they could do that and at times request additional water in drought times. They have actually asked that one I believe and been told NO. The lakes are balanced in level by what they are able to hold and how much they are currently holding. There are also regulation points on the Missouri and Mississippi that restrict how much water can be passed. Years with a heavy snow pack which creates heavy releases from places like Gavin Point, or floods which dump a lot of water into the MO or MS river can create a restriction and we in this part of the state wouldn't even know it was happening.
