Members LARRYG Posted March 20, 2019 Members Posted March 20, 2019 Any body know what the water color is like up around the Gravois Mill ramp . Thinking about launching there tomorrow and seeing if fishing is better up there. Thanks
Seth Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 We didn't make it that far up the Gravois, but the main channel near Coffmann was pretty dirty Monday when I was up there chasing crappie. Main channel temps were in the mid 40's and the cleaner creek water was in the lower 40's.
Old plug Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 How far up you asking about. Here at Cedar Point it is turning pretty muddy
Members LARRYG Posted March 20, 2019 Author Members Posted March 20, 2019 I was looking at from Gravois ramp down to Indian Creek.
Seth Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 A buddy was fishing back in Indian Creek this past weekend and said it was muddy.
Old plug Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 I would imagine the whole Gravois and lake down to the dam has been effected. The muddy stuff was caused be a drawdown bringing the mud down the lake. Sometime the back of Indian creek misses out on that But it looks pretty thick this time. Then there are times when thecwater color means nothing. What into not likes thecommbine of cold water and muddy water. Brown water does not heat up even in the shallows from sun
Seth Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 @Old plug are you trying to say that dirty water doesn't heat up as fast as clean water or am I misunderstanding you? That's the opposite of what happens.
fishinwrench Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Dirty water heats up like the dash of your truck when the sun is on it. Seth 1
Old plug Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 I know what your thinking Seth the dark color should color will absorb more sunlight and heat up better. But if the sunlight is not getting through. Then the water below there does not heat up much at all. Maybe I am wrong and it is effecting my fishing. When its this water is this cold and murky I just do not want to go mainly. I know thought that close to the bank on a sunny day I might be able to do well by following the sun. To old to work at it.
