WoundedOne Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Have been to the lake several years pleasure boating now it is time to fish. I am undecided yet as if I am going to put in at Eagle Rock or Kings River (sweetwater). Hope to have a good report to post. after some crappie and bass. Any tips? Wondering if the showers that fell today are going to affect the bite? Forecast looks great. Johnsfolly and MoCarp 2
Devan S. Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 If you have crappie even remotely on your mind I would venture and stay towards sweet water. WoundedOne 1

Devan i got a lot of Crappie on my mind lately thanks to @BilletHead. How far can one go up say towards 86 in a prop? if it is even necessary.. BilletHead and Johnsfolly 2
Devan S. Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Not necessary. Frankly you should be able to catch crappie within 2-3 miles either direction of sweet water pretty easy. I haven't done any crappie fishing since early on this year but I'm hearing there is a lot of 9-9.75" fish. You should be able to make it well past the 86 bridge should you want to run that far. Google maps current satellite view has the water at a much lower level than it is today so you can clearly see where the channel is. Outside of stick here and there past Jackie Cove the only spot of any concern is right before the bridge and google maps will give you a good example of how to run it.
WoundedOne Posted April 26, 2019 Author Posted April 26, 2019 Well fishing today was horrible for me. Put in @ 8am @sweeetwater fish banks up and down. Winds picked up quite a bit. Tried coves, timber(what I could see above water) and everything else. Did not see a lot of action from other boats I was around. WT 61 - 63. Got 1 to the boat. I switched it up to try stinkin bass. They did not want to play either. It was fun learning new water.
