I recall a few weeks ago that some Youtuber helped a guy that thrown from his boat under similar circumstances. He said that he left his cell phone on the front deck and reached up to grab it when the wheel turned and threw him. A good reminder of something that seems obvious, boat steering systems aren't meant to be let go of when under power. 

 

 

  Watched that video the day it came out...   No PFD and NO killswitch.  Guy was lucky Darwin wasn't watching him.
