I have the same problem. It over shoots all the time. I have a trova as well and a spot lock will be 3 feet off this way or 3 feet off that way all the time.

Have you tried recalibrating it?

You might also need to look at the boat off set.

Thanks I'll have to try that next time I'm on the water.

Can't calibrate older ones without the heading sensor, and there are no settings to change like the Ultrex and Ulterra.

Overshooting doesn't bother me that much, it doesn't happen that often, but the cable wrapping does. It says in the Ipilot manual that it shouldn't, but it will wrap them up, and cancel spot lock whenever it detects the extra steering tension. By the time it does all of this I haven't been paying attention and the boat is way off whatever I was trying to fish over.

If it's relatively calm and I am spooning or doing anything else where I like to watch my lure on the graph, I won't even use the Ipilot. I can do a much better job just by running the motor manually with the remote.

I have this exact same problem. My transducer cable seems to be the issue. I have it run up the shaft on adapter kit I bought. Not a fan.  The earlier models didn't have a lift assist flat spring on them, and you could run the cable up the shaft and through the head for a nice, working way to do it( video on utube). I have decided to take the lift assist off and do it the old way up the shaft.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

I have the same problems with the cables. They wrap around and wrap around. And sometimes the unit will shut off while I'm fishing and I'll look up and figure out its is no longer on spot lock.

I thought about doing the same thing. I went from a cable steer to the terrova .there's definitely an upside and a downside to the terrova vs cable steer. Let me know how that works for you pulling off the assist a lift.
