bferg Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Late report because there were things to do when I got home and there wasn't much catching to report. Got to the ramp at Big M at 7:15. Fished until 12:00. Only 1 dink to show for it. Water was high and pretty muddy (not quite chocolate milk but maybe sweet tea?). Mud line was near the bend between Big M and Emerald Point. We marked fish all over Viney (Screen shot below) and Emerald Point- marking fish was not an issue... threw everything at them. Tried fishing for them vertically with DS and Spoons, pulled off of them and threw jigs, vibrating jigs, Keitechs, under spins, flutter spoons, spinner baits, anything that wasn't nailed down we tied on. Could not buy a bite. Wind was blowing pretty good and it make keeping my little aluminum boat on the fish a huge pain. We just couldn't connect. Here are some representative samples of sonar images- really frustrating to see this all day an not get bit! Most consistent groups of fish we saw were suspending over 30+ feet of water- up to 60. Larger concentrations 1/3 of the way back into the river arms but on the points too. WT was from 54-57 degrees with the dirty water a degree or two cooler than the cleaner water down near Emerald. Frustrating... but man, it was beautiful out! Sore Thumbs, Carl W and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
Quillback Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Sorry to hear you did not get into them, sounds like they have lock jaw. Does look like from the graph images that they were chasing the shad. Lots of water moving if the mudline is down at Big M, it hardly ever gets muddy there. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Champ188 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Quill hit on a good point … hardly ever gets muddy in the White River arm and I believe it freaks them out when it does. Fish in the James and the Kings rivers seem to acclimate better to dirty water, perhaps because their part of the world gets muddy a lot more often. Just my opinion. Guest Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 thanks for the screen shots, but you were wasting your time fishing at what you have got there. i would not have wasted anytime at all fishing at what you have on your screen. why? not enough bait gathered together, and really not much fish around that would even peak my interest. when the bait is all gathered in one area for 50 yards, then you might have something. keep looking and learning. bo arsenal1477, bferg, Carl W and 1 other 2 2

Seth Clarkson Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 We fished mainly in Big Creek that day (after running from the wind in an aluminum boat). Didn't catch a lot, but had a couple near keepers under docks with a hula grub.

I'd probably drop a spoon or worm on that if was already on something, but I wouldn't shut down the big motor until I saw 10x that much stuff.
