jdmidwest Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Someone needs to invent a small jackplate for those big pucks. The one on the Nitro kicks up a huge wake all over the side of the motor. moguy1973 Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 The transducer on my 73SV is pretty long, but I was surprised how long the one for my 53DV was. It barely fits on the bottom of my Maxxum's motor housing. My trolling motor has the skeg in the front of the housing and there's probably only about 1/16" between the back of the transducer and the prop. It's probably why I get some interference on my front unit when the TM is running. There's no way the 73SV transducer would fit on the TM, it would be too long and would hit the prop. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Rootman Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 If you get a unit that has lake maps on it and you want to fish brush piles, I would highly recommend that you take it somewhere that will load the gps coordinates for the brush piles. Costs about $15 but is well worth it. Made my job of finding them easy to locate for crappie fishing. A marine repair in Springfield will do it. Just an FYI olfishead 1
olfishead Posted December 7, 2019 Author Posted December 7, 2019 I was able to download the GPS waypoints from the MDC site myself with my old Lowrance unit using the EasyGPS program on an SD card. I am assuming I can still do that with a Garmin?
Rootman Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 That I do not know, I actually found about doing it from an old post on this forum. I would imagine you can, when I took mine to get the waypoints, they said sometimes Garmin gives them problems, but mine took them just fine olfishead 1
moguy1973 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Yeah you can get the Garmin software for you computer and it can put the brush piles from the MDC site onto your unit. Just need a microSD card and a way for your computer to read and write to it. I’m not sure the procedure but I believe it’s all on Garmins website. olfishead 1 -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Dutch Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I put my wpts on my friend's Garmin. I'm pretty sure that I saved them in gpx format before I loaded them to his unit. olfishead 1
