Fish24/7 Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Deep ,shallow, and in between is where we are catching bass. Have had several really good days of fishing and catching this Fall. Started back in November fishing the deep bite with spoons and blade baits on deep flats. Fish stayed in the same general areas for a couple weeks which made for more time catching and less time searching. Concentration of fish we found were 35-55' with a few suspended in the 20's at that depth but most on or near the bottom. I'm talking about walleye, flathead, white and black bass. They were all mixed together. Now December is here and we switched back to the shallow and mid range bite. Jerkbaits and crankbaits were working yesterday. Points at the mouths of coves is all we fished for 4 hours.Cloudy and wind. Around 40 bass between the 2 of us. Cranking these points from every angle possible in the 8-12' zone , retrieve speed was the most important thing. Had to be a certain speed or they wouldn't bite the crankbaits. Had to finesse the bait through the brush while keeping the right retrieve speed also, that was tricky. Same points we worked shallow small lipped suspending jerkbaits just under the surface in and around the brush. Was neat to see the flash when a bass would suddenly appear and strike! Hope to get back out tomorrow and see what happens Daryk Campbell Sr, snagged in outlet 3, mojorig and 5 others 8
Fish24/7 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 Fished Saturday from noon until 4:45. Without electronics this time so I don't have water temps. Previous trip we had wind and clouds all day ,this time it was high sky and very calm to start then a light breeze later in the day . Fished strictly points again. Deep bite early on finesse jigs in approx. 18 to 30 dragging the sides, and later in the day we fished the same points again but the fish moved shallower around 9 to 12ft and bit crankbaits . Again retrieve speed was the trigger and be touching rock or brush at some point during the retrieve because most bites came after it would hit a bush or rock ,pause for a few seconds so the lure would float up , and then really speed up to get their reaction. They would grab it and start trying to chew it like a worm bite. Total of 17 keepers. 2 sm, 7 lm, 8 ky Caught dozens of baby bass ! Happy to see so many of them😃 . Free the fighters!
