I went out of Big M this morning in the fog. Caught 6 largemouth on spooks only two keepers. Also caught one white bass about 2 lbs. Seemed everything quit when the fog burned off. Most of the fish I caught were on bluff ends about 30-40fow.

Actually Bill, I have never tried to drop shot. I have not figured how to tune my Eagle 480 in yet. It is hit and miss on being able to see the bait when I have used spoons in the past. I know I have to give it a try as my fishing partner as good success on a regular basis doing it.

To me being able to watch the drop shot on the screen isnt that important. It is kinda cool to watch, but for me it doesnt help me in the numbers. Just locate your fish and start fishing, they bite or don't. I like to find a group of fish with several on the bottom, those are the ones I target. Not an expert by any means, but that works for me, and confidance with your choice of lure and the spot is half of the game.

J.E. is right on the traneys, I have blown out two already this year. At. $105.00 per pop, it starts to hurt.

Denjac is also on the money. Seeing your junk is really just part of the fun, I don't know if it will catch you anymore fish. Tuning in on the depth and finding the fish is what will catch-em.

If you can see them suspended or on the bottom, the battle is won. They will either bite or they won't. Sometime seeing everything is heart breaking. I cannot tell you how many fish will come to the bait and then just melt away.

I have seen a dozen lines zoom off the bottom, and when they got to the bait just fade back. I have seen them gobble it, too. Whow! that is so much fun.

Our guide folks really love to see em get it. Without a doubt the most fun I have is saying here he comes, get ready. When their rods start to bend it is an absolute hoot.

Good Luck

Wish I knew, but it has always been a problem. J.E., and SKMO and some of the other guys are way more into the tech stuff then I and probably can answer that. I just drive em and use em.

Did give BP a call, and they said if you keep the box, they will replace them for any length of time, no expiration. Thats a pretty good warranty. Still breaking stuff is a pain.

What's the issue with the tranducers?

Why do they blow out?

Thanks

Wish I could tell you. Lowrance told me the first few times they were just "weak" ducers. I used to keep an extra in the boat (puck) just in case.

I've had Humminbird's go bad also so I don't think it's something special to Lowrance. My thoughts are that the beating I give it on the nose of the boat may shorten the life span but, SKMO is much stronger on those tech details than I am.
