Lifes2Short Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 A chilly day on the water but the crappie were cooperative. Ended up with two limits up around the twin bridges area. Water clarity is only about 2 feet with water temps around 41. Jigs in 35 to 40 feet of water. Tight Lines! Rootman, terryj1024, liphunter and 3 others 4 2
Old dog 417 Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Good job! ....Again! Is there very much high water debris (floaters and trash) in that area? od
Lifes2Short Posted January 26, 2020 Author Posted January 26, 2020 Back on the water again today out of Old State Park. Ended up with 20 keepers that all came out of one brush pile. We bounced around to another six or eight piles but couldn’t find any hungry ones. The water out of Old State Park is very clear between there and the dam. It was interesting as yesterday we only caught all white crappie and today all we could catch were black crappie.....except one. The fish we caught today were in 28 to 30 feet using shad colored jigs in that clearwater. 41 degree water. Tight Lines! Rootman and Old dog 417 2

Lifes2Short Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 Tougher bite today but we did manage a limit of some nice slabs. We did notice a number of big floaters in the lake, be careful. Beautiful January day on the lake! terryj1024 1

Heretolearn Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I hope you keep fishing and keep the reports coming. The pictures on the lake make me want to go, but I am not very good with jigs and even worse with the winter time bite. I am hoping to get out in 3-4 weeks and try if they are still hitting. Thanks again for the report and the pictures!

straw hat Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Lifeis2Short My wife and I used to do a lot of winter fishing for crappie in years past (It is too hard on us at our age know, lol). We had noticed the same thing as you. black crappie run about 5 to 10 ft shallower than the white crappie. We mainly fished bluffs though. if we were catching black crappie and the bite slowed down we could usually drop a few feet deeper and pick up some white crappie. Lifes2Short and terryj1024 2
