Walcrabass Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 Ok Guys, We made some progress last year on the Kentuckies with the new 12" length for Stockton. Let's Review some facts..................for lakes with the 12 " Kentucky length............... Bull Shoals----------12" Lake of the Ozarks---------12" Montrose Lake---------- 18" Oops !!!!! Oh Yeah, they have Florida strain. yeah for them !!!!!!!!!! Norfork Lake------------------- 12" Pomme De Terre----------------- 13" Stockton-------12" Truman---------- 12" Table Rock.............. I am ashamed to print this........................ 15" Do you get my point??? Walcrabass David Goddard 1
3DHUSKER Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 Don't get the point of complaining about TRL 15 " length in the Stockton lake forum. 😎
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 29, 2020 Root Admin Posted January 29, 2020 I can move it if @Walcrabass wants to.
Walcrabass Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Phil and others, Thank you for pointing out my oversight............. kind of................... just letting my opinion be known about my JOY concerning the ruling for Stockton and supporting this regulation by showing it now falls in line with so many other lakes. I would be happy for this to go to the Table Rock Forum even though I don't read that one. AND, as long as it will be going there................... with the "invention" of tournaments that "weigh in" small bass ( like the Kentuckies at Table Rock) there is a new name I have heard applied to Table Rock. "Guppy Lake". When I was a young man I never would have dreamed anything like this .................... Walcrabass
David Goddard Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I completely agree. I wish that Table Rock would lower the limit on KYs to 12" and I'm not really sure why they haven't yet.
olfishead Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I would agree with changing the TRL length limit if I knew the growth rate and densities for spotted bass on TRL. If the GR were more rapid than the other lakes with LOW densities I would be opposed. That's why we hire biologists! But, it's not a bad proposal/question from the standpoint of regulation uniformity.
Walcrabass Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Olfishhead, From what I have seen and what my buddies tell me the Growth rate is: TERRIBLE !!!! AND the density is: one Kentucky per 1 cubic inch of water. Nearly all of them under 15"..... ( occasionally there is a freak of nature that makes it....) ( Sorry, as I know this is the Stockton Forum. Phil, please feel free to post my comments on the Table Rock Forum.. ) Walcrabass
3DHUSKER Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 The K pictures I see in the TRL forum have them all over 15". 😎 I don't have any buddies that are biologists but when they tell me biologist stuff I just nod my head. Most of the time it makes them feel important and I get a laugh.
Walcrabass Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 3DHusker, Yep I believe that wholistically !!!! From what a biologist told me I know that it is all 4% of the total lake population............ Walcrabass
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 ILL say last year i caught a lot more over 15" than any other year. I would also like it to go to 12" though. Those little guys are pretty tasty. Didnt they do a study and say that it takes 5-7 years for a spot to get to 15 and by that time they are getting close to the end of their life cycle
