Hey all,

I've been scouring this board and the internet (instead of working on schoolwork), looking for places to put the canoe on Table Rock Lake. My fishing "goal," this year is to fish larger water. With that being said, I've got Eagle Rock and Big M areas in mind. Both areas seem to hold skinnier water, which will be easier from a canoe. Just curious if anyone fishes there much and would either confirm or deny my suspicion that those would be good places to try. I do have a little anchor and portable fish finder, so that's a plus. I'm not  necessarily concerned with the fishing because I'm sure it's good in those areas; as is everywhere on Table Rock. Thanks in advance!

If you could launch across from Big M at Viney and and fish that area I think it would be better for you.  That area is relatively protected and holds fish year round.  Big M and Eagle Rock both have large marinas and there can be lots of boat traffic.

I would also recommend getting out there early to beat the googans.

Agree both Big M and Eagle Rock are going to mean pretty good paddles to coves and likely crossing the lake.

You could put in 86 bridge in Eagle rock over roaring river arm(not the big bridge over the lake). Lots of accessible water in that area. Viney is a good spot and will not have to cross the lake.  I think there is a small boat ramp in rock creek on the Big M side but I'm not sure how to get there. Owl Creek has a boat ramp and would be protected. Another option would be the old sweetwater ramp on the kings side. Pretty good cove there and easy paddle to the next cove over.

There is an unimproved ramp at the mouth of Roaring River. That area has many good fish, bass and walleye, accessible from that put in.

I have definitely considered the roaring river arm.

Those are all good suggestions above, there's a couple of neighborhood ramps in Viney creek on the east side of the cove.  Caught a couple of bass today within about a stones throw off the northernmost ramp.

Another suggestion is Carter Hollow which is maybe 2 miles downstream from Viney.  It's on the north side of the channel.  The reason I suggest Carter is that there is a no wake buoy at the mouth so you don't get  boat wakes back there.  Lots of trees and docks back in there to fish so you can stay busy back there for all day if you want.

Doesn't hurt to do a day of scouting to find these ramps and access points, then come back for a full day of fishing.  You could hit several of these coves in a day if you wanted, fish them out, load the canoe and move to another one.
