9-1

Not a lot to report today. Spent an hour crappie fishing only caught 4 keeps. Wanted to try some places I've been scouting for bass. First spot I had 3 bites, missed all 3 😧. Not sure how I screwed that up they had the bait and were pulling the rod..Wasn't expecting to get a ton of bites in this first spot because its very small. Next place was the same exact type of pattern. Positioned the boat perfectly, made a good cast, got one to bite , and I missed it too! Just not my day I guess. Got a late start ,9:30. Need to get out earlier to maximize the low light conditions, and I probably should have bass fished first instead of chase crappie.

Spent the last couple hours searching for gills. Water was dingy , couldn't see them up cruising. So I went to a place that usually has a few,and they were there. Had some thumpers today, 4 were 9-10". Wind was making it difficult to fish ice jigs on 6lb braid ,but I use neon green to see the bite and increase sensitivity.

Everything was released.

WT was reading 65-68.

Check out the Table Rock report, same day or Thursday.  Bite was extremely hard to detect and then almost impossible to get a hook in them.  Seems it went from Lake O. to the Rock to Lower Bull, same bite.  Interesting.

Thanks Fish I always really enjoy your reports.

Bill I was throwing the Big Redfin. When they inhale it and turn away from ya and pull the rod tip down and the rod loads up with  brand new Kitana hooks I'm puzzled how not 1 of the hooks managed to stick any of them.. and these were not small bass either. All of them were 5+. One bass was colored up black as night, and I had 2 chances with her.

Another big one came out of the water right under the lure like Jaws mouth fully opened and took the entire fin and it disappeared. Somehow managed to never get a hook. At the second spot I got bit at the very end of a cast. She absolutely flushed the toilet on it! Reeled up slack pulled back and I could actually feel the bait slip out of it's mouth. Again no hook up. Frustrating when you get that many quality bites and just can't make it happen.

I'da probably pulled an Ike on missing those type of topwater nips.😊  When they get a face full of fin, its usually on.  Weird last few days for sure.  Good to hear they are snapping at the top down there might need to venture down.

Can I guy get in at the upper ramp at Diamond?

I've never been to Diamond City.

I don't know.

If weather is doable tomorrow morning I'll be back out there.

Got a late late start, didn't put in until 10.Fished till 1:30. Bite was already going when I got there. Second cast I was holding a 15" keeper lm that bit a  modified square bill I painted green pumpkin with an orange belly.. Shady areas you could just cruise down the bank until you came to the next shaded spot toss the crank in there make about 3 handle turns and set the hook. Not big ones, but all keeper lm. Caught 5 doing that. Then switched it up with another bait and  found some bigger ones.

This one 👇 I bet just dropped the night before under that awesome full moon. Long and skinny.

Caught 7 total ,all keeper largemouth.  shallow in a foot of water.

Wife and I went down to Diamond to check it out and it was a TOTAL ZOO.  Just about as many people and rigs as I have ever seen.  Impossible to launch.  I will tell you there was ZERO social distancing.  Lake was totally full of swimmers, skiers and tubers along with picnics and just folks everywhere.  Even saw some horse back riders at the Ledd Hill park launch and by the way it was a lot less crowded.

Be safe out there.

Well, hope they didn't spread any virus. There's been fewer boats during the week since some people are working again. Went from seeing 12+ trailers on the ramp and along the highway in Theo on a weekday to a lot less ,around 5 avg.

I'm thinking about trying some new areas way off the beaten path. Almost anywhere there's blacktop leading to water is getting trashed and pressured. I picked up trash for 20 minutes last time.

Wonder how much higher Bull is going to go? We got 2" since yesterday .

Buck Creek has been good to me for launching this spring. One ramp with a courtesy dock, and another road that is just at the right angle for a ramp. Camping is closed, so there has been plenty of parking around the campground. I have no idea why anyone would be fighting the crowds at the bridge.

I hope we don’t go all the way to the top, but honestly as high as it already is, a few more feet doesn’t really change much.
