Members ThisFish Posted May 28, 2020 Members Posted May 28, 2020 Hi all! I've been lurking here for a little while and really appreciate all the information here! I grew up on the east coast and fished the upper delaware with my dad growing up. We used to float on kayaks and just spend the day fishing holes and riffles for trout, walleye, small mouth, large mouth, you name it. Fast forward to now, I live in the St. Louis area and am trying to explore some local waters sans bait. It's hard to find time to get out so I'm looking to work some streams and rivers closer to home. I've also taken up fly fishing for the first time and was curious if anyone could recommend a local guide? Its all a bit overwhelming and I could use some help. Also if anyone has any recommended local streams or creeks proximal to the St. Louis area Id appreciate it! Not looking for you to give up your secret honey hole, just trying to find some water nearby to get the waders wet and a fly in the water. timinmo and Johnsfolly 2

I don't know of any "local" guides since STL is kind of far away from any good streams. The ones that are close...… Get in line with the rest of us 2.9 mill or so people. Good luck and post up your success.

Really anyone that I could pull a day trip with. I think places like branson would be a little far.

Trout parks are a good start and way closer than Branson
Gavin Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 The guys at Hargrove's will hook you up. Shop is open now, Craig is back to work, some remodeling has been done. Tom, Craig, Eric, and Max know their stuff. Super nice. Have not been in to shoot the bull and suck down a drink or three in awhile, but miss my fellow Fishheads. Craig said you will need a mask, if you want to enter...Call them and ask about protocol first. Addy is 9024 Manchester Rd 63144. Phone is 314-968-4223. Great guys! Worked next door @ 9012 Manchester for over a decade. David Unnerstall 1
