Hey rzbker, I can't give you specific advise regarding catching crappie on Beaver Lake like Lance 34 who is the real pro or Greg B who is catching on rapidly but I can help you with general information on the crappie population. You'll have a much better chance of catching crappie on Beaver Lake in the mid and upper parts of the lake. Generally speaking there are greater numbers of crappie the further you go up lake. The further south you go towards the two river arms of the lake (War Eagle and White River arms) the denser the crappie population is. The crappie prefer the more fertile upper half of the lake and thrive better there. I'm not saying you can't catch crappie in the Clifty area but you'll have a much better chance of success in the southern parts of the lake.  It's a pretty long boat ride from Clifty so you might want to trailer your boat to one of the accesses on the southern end of the lake to be closer to the best crappie action.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I learned early on that the striper population up on this end pretty well keeps the crappie in check.

Since I put in around point 4, motoring down to Rocky Branch in the fall is likely going to be the norm. I think that's around point 7 and the AFGC has mapped their sunken structures up to there. I need to go exploring that area.

The good part of it all is that the walleye are mostly on this end of the lake and between eating crappie and/or walleye.......well that's why I go!

To me, finding them and patterning them is half the fun.  They seem pretty difficult to pattern for me right now as they seem really scattered, but I will keep trying.  I haven’t been at this as long as Lance but his posts keep me feeling like learning the lake is a possibility.   I agree that I haven’t been finding many on the main lake channel.  I keep trying as it seems like a logical place to find them, but I’m only picking up a fish here and there in those locations.  Steep banks with brush or main lake humps have been a bit more consistent. In the area I fish of the white river I’ve located 4-5 spots that always seem to have a few fish.  I really need to expand my search area and learn more.   I’ve just returned from Mississippi and really need to get some work done this week but I’ll likely get out there this weekend.
