Been hitting North Big Clifty lately with slip bobber and minnows. Not much luck.

Switched over to a small sassy shad and caught a couple of small ones.

What is a good recommendation now for jigs? I am not trolling, just jigging.

Thanks in advance....

Man, I was using small ones (last that I had). I was thinking that was the problem.

I don't think this last cold (cool) front that came through did much to them to get them shallower. Even though the water temp dropped about 5 degrees. I was spotting them around 20 ft in 30 FOW.

Thanks

Of course, I'm typically trolling, so my opinion may not help much.  best jig color for me lately has been either a natural color (like an Arkansas Shad, Tennessee Shad, etc) or something with a bit of yellow (acid rain).  When I'm not trolling, I like the Bobby Garland Baby shad in natural colors.

Good luck!

Thanks Greg,

I am going to meander over to Rocky Branch next week, it is supposed to be great weather. Is there much traffic around there, particularly between points 6 & 7 that you are aware of?

I’m sure there will be boat traffic there.  That area of the lake certainly gets used by the boating crowd.  That said, there’s boat traffic everywhere.  I don’t fish that area much and I have been staying south of there.  After about 10:00 am, there’s traffic wherever you go.  I troll a lot so boat traffic is not a day killer.

Well I am hoping since I leave the lake to the weekend warriors, maybe Tuesday or Wendsday is looking real nice as far as the weather.

Dang, I sure love retirement!

Got out Saturday morning with a good friend of mine...  Minnow rigging and using moon jigs tipped with minnows..  We came home with 22...  Steady bite till about 10 when the water fleas showed up.  25 to 18 fow, 15-16 feet down.  Caught more in the shallower depths than over deeper water.   Think all this boat traffic pushing them shallow...  I don’t know...  Just me thinking like I a fish and what I would do🤣🤣🤣🤣

Good fishing and God Bless Lance

I went Sunday Morning.  Had 5 in the live well when I decided to release them.  Could tell I wasn’t going to get many that day.  Interestingly I was catching most fish on the shallowest cranks.  I discovered this by mistake.  I was reworking one when a plug got hung up so I flipped the one in my hand out there about 30 feet and grabbed the one that was hung.  I broke it off and before I could re-tie, the one I barely flipped out there went down.  After that I pulled all poles back to short lines.  My cranks were running around 6-8 feet.  Caught all fish on those except one from around 15 feet.

Bobby Garlands (straight tails) in shad blue/white color works good for me either casting or jigging.  Use at least 1/8oz jig head.
