Maverickpro201 Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 If you had a choice which one would you choose? I was told that the clarity was not as good on the Garmins, is this true? What does 1 do that the other does not? Why do you think one is better than the other? 93sv and a102sv Garmin w/panoptics and a Ultrex 24v or 2 Helix 10's, 1side imaging, 1 down imaging, Mega360 and a Ultrex 24v Or would you prefer the Ghost over the Ultrex? Thanks
liphunter Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 I couldn’t tell you about the others. I did have some older birds for awhile. But I couldn’t really base anything on that. They were a bit dated. But every thing I use now is Garmin including Panoptix, and as hard at it is to believe. I am super happy with all my Garmin equipment. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Dutch Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 What ever you go with, you will have more options if you match your depth finders to your trolling motors. I’ve heard only good about the new Garmins, but I am too invested in Minn Kota and Humminbird to make any moves. snagged in outlet 3 1
MrGiggles Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 I like Garmin's menu system better. It's nice to have a main menu where you can select whatever view you want. Have to scroll through them on a Humminbird, if you miss the one you wanted, gotta go back around to find it. My Helix has hands down better side imaging than my Garmin. I have tweaked and played with settings on the Garmin to get the best picture, and the Helix was just plain better right out of the box without messing with anything. -Austin
rps Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 I wanted to buy a Ghost but the long shaft was totally out of stock with no expected deliveries. I opted for the Garmin Force and paired it with the 93sv UHD, front and dash. The clarity is excellent. I agree with Dutch. Match your electronics to your motor. Cross breed systems are never as good.
