oneshot 1 Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Been putting Sealer on out Deck. Haven't been happy with any. Thinking of just painting it. Thoughts? oneshot
MOPanfisher Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Painting treated wood is a waste of time and money. Won't stick long and looks terrible.
fishinwrench Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 When I built my deck I used CCA, let it dry out then power washed and sealed it with Thompson's. A few boards eventually started rotting so I replaced with a few sticks of CCA and a few sticks of regular old pine lumber. The plain old pine lumber (non-treated) has lasted longer than the CCA on the uncovered portion of my deck. If I had to do it again, and wanted it to last forever, I'd use plain lumber, never treat it, and just paint it. But actually for a deck I like the rough look of weathered unpainted/untreated lumber.
