Made a quick stop at the bridge access point on Piney Creek above Lane Springs just to show a friend an access point and it was fenced off with signs stating no access was allowed. Does anyone know another legal access to the Little Piney nearby so we can access the Blue Ribbon area of the stream?

Man, I'm seeing more and more of this around the state. I was at R&R this weekend and a spot that has always been available to park and wade has fencing right up to the road now. Same with a spot on Shoal Creek as well. I guess the land owners have finally had enough. 😢

Lane Spring Rec area is only a couple hundred yards down stream of the 63 bridge.  I can see why they closed the 63 access . . . . . it was getting trashed.

fifty to a hundred kayaks a day will do that, but I see MDOT closing places that we used to park and access creeks.

I assume the spot at RR was down by the cemetery. Contrary to popular belief its been private and the owners have been running people off for years and years.

I grew up my whole life in that area knowing it was only a matter of time until I got "caught" and run off.

Between the parties, trash, and constant barrage of 4 wheeling in that area I'm surprised it took them this long to put up actual fences.

I figured it had been private as well since you had to cross a cattle guard to get down there. I never saw any trash down there myself, but plenty of ATV tracks in the gravel every time I had been there. Well over 20 years I had known about that spot and never once did anyone say anything to me about being there. Different times we are living in for sure.

I have been there several times and it didn't seem to trashed out though I did pick up some that was there. One fisherman I talked to in Lane Springs was doubtful the fence was legal. I haven't used the access that often but it does cut down on my options.

Crying Native American

Last time we put in at 63 there were a bunch of kids smoking weed and drinking beer. They were not making a mess...Different story at W bridge...Adult junkies & drunks with the MOHP running them off. Needles on the gravel bar. Sad really.
