Ketchup Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Well, had a little free time, so launched out of Masters at 11, and fished til 4. im not, repeat NOT a jig kinda guy. I would rather fish a worm, shakey, wacky, or any moving bait before i fish a jig, but today i had 3 rods on the deck, with 3 different size and color jigs. I told myself i was going to fish those until i caught fish, or went home. Well, after the 3rd spot with no luck, it was time to pull rods out of the box. And pull out i did. Those 3 jig rods turned into 12 rods by the time i was done, and never got a tick one, other than a couple 17” to 19” walleye, who were eased back into the drink. this hobby is so humbling at times. Heck, i even trolled a flicker shad for 1/4 mile with no love. Guess i woke up on the wrong side of the bed. back out in the morning to fling some topwater. Dutch Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 What was the water clarity and temp? I went to Rouark looking for crappie. The water in the Big Sac was muddy looking. I saw lots of groceries and shoppers at the end of the bluff in 28 to 36 fow near the bottom. I only had 2 bites. I lost the first one. The second turned out to be a 6” white crappie. After an hour and a half the wind picked up a little so I called it quits put those setups away and pulled out some spinner baits and Arigs. Not a bit of love there either so they went into the box. I took a run up Sons and pulled out a couple of white bass setups with sliders tied on. Even the whites were slow. I did manage a limit and called it quits. I don’t know if the appearance of the sun caused the change but something sure did slow down the bite. I believe that I may go to Pomme de Terre and see if I can find a crappie in a couple of days.
Ketchup Posted November 1, 2020 Author Posted November 1, 2020 Went out today as well. Fished from 8 til 2. Caught 2 short bass is all. Tried multiple lures, locations, retrieves, etc. I must have pissed off the fish gods recently, because the last 4 trips have been hell. water north of mile long bridge isn’t bad. Closer to dam it was pretty clear. Water temp was 56.9 early to 59.7 later. Fished a Ned for 2 hours. Got bit 4 times but no fish. We even trolled flickers for over an hour and nothing. im telling ya, i pissed those fish off. next weekend we have our 2 day tournament there so i hope my luck turns around. Going out early again tomorrow. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
