Ranger520vx Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Have took the grand kids out a few times in the last week and have had a blast chasing white bass. Seems like early morning has been best as far as them staying up. Got on them for little over an hour this morning would have been longer if we would have gotten there earlier. snagged in outlet 3 1
Dutch Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 I plan to head down there Thursday of Friday morning. Do you mind sharing the area of the lake where you have been seeing them and the time of day? I would love to get in on some of that action.
Ranger520vx Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Been catching them in the evenings starting around 7-7:30 been finding them on the points at the south end of Martins Flats and on the shallow mud point on your right across from the bluff if you’re running straight south out of Galmey cove. Found them this morning in Martins Flats they were coming up when we got there at about 7:15 and stayed up till about 8:30. Evenings haven’t been quite as good have to troll quite a bit since they won’t stay up.
Dutch Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I won’t be there in the evening. It will be morning. I normally launch at Nemo or Lightfoot. Which arm will be most likely to have surface activity?
Ranger520vx Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Not sure about the Nemo side haven’t been over there for awhile. From what I’ve seen and heard they have been coming up in Martins Flats most mornings. Wish I could help more but unfortunately I just haven’t had time to get out a lot. Hope you get into them like we did. Let me know when you decide what day you’ll be here I may be out there.
Dutch Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 If I get to go I will probably be too late for surfacing whites. Thanks for being willing to help.
Members kelbrand Posted July 8, 2021 Members Posted July 8, 2021 A few years ago my family got into the whites near lightfoot. It looked like the water was boiling for an hour. They were so excited! I think it ruined them though. A few times since then, they've just not been near as interested in going unless the white bass were feeding. I've explained to them how rare that is and fish aren't caught sitting at home...... Maybe they'll come with me saturday. Any word if they've been active further south on the pomme de terre arm?
Dutch Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Like I figured I didn’t get there very early. It was almost 9 by the time I got there. Some were still busting shad but they were scattered. I managed 14 before they quit. I’d like to be there at first light and see what is happening but I’d have to get up by 03:30 and that wouldn’t be any fun. snagged in outlet 3 1
Ranger520vx Posted July 8, 2021 Author Posted July 8, 2021 Glad you managed to get in on a little bit of the action. I bet the cloud cover kept them up a little while longer today.
