Connection to Garmin or Lowrance graphs not a concern...

Which pedal is more user friendly or is there a difference?

My dad needs a new trolling motor and asked me to make a recommendation... I like my ultrex but really intrigued by the brushless motors

The Lowrance allows you to put the starter button on either side if that is a factor. Both work great for maneuvering the boat. Not at all like the old wireless.

Either motor retracts and deploys with 1 tenth of the effort it take with the Ultrex. That means so much to me as I continue to mature.  Both are super quiet in operation.

Hard choice, sure depends on the electronics brand that you said doesn't matter.

I have no experience with the Garmin, but replaced my Motorguide X-5 (a fine motor) with a Ghost in January.  I haven't used the remote, so I can't comment on that, but I love the motor.  The foot pedal is very easy to use--very responsive.  It requires much less effort than the Motorguide.

My boat is a Skeeter 200TZX, and the Ghost is pulling 24 volts.  The power is impressive, it's very quiet, and it's rarely necessary for me to go beyond 4th speed.  One advantage of the Ghost, however, is that it's compatible with 24v or 36v if you require more power. Your choice, without having to change motors.

My electronics are older generation Lowrance, so I'm unable to take advantage of many of the features.  I hope to change that soon!

I have had both and my opinion is the Ghost foot pedal is superior to the Garmin.  The foot pedal is the only thing that I did not like on the Garmin, although I think the spot lock is better on the Ghost as well.  I kept hitting accidently hitting the due north button with my heel on the Garmin plus the pedal tension was way too lose and difficult to control.  I also currently have Lowrance live units as well so another reason I chose the Ghost.
