Targa98 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Got a question for ANYBODY who is smarter than I am at this! (Everybody) I picked up my new to me boat yesterday, I got Helix 10s for my graphs along with a Garmin dedicated to Live scope. The graphs were wiped clean as expected and I already put the new Lake Master Plus card into it. Now I am wanting to download the MDC way points for TRL and Stockton to my units. My question is regarding transferring the file from the MDC website with the waypoints onto the graph. It comes off the website as a GPX file. I think I have "unzipped" it but I still need to get it to a different style file for the graph to download it if I am correct. How in the world do I manage to do that? Im sure this is easy for someone who has done it but this is a first for me. Thank you to anyone who might be able to help!!!!
bobby b. Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Two ways to transfer data to the Garmin. 1) install Homeport from the Garmin website, upload the GPX file to the Homeport app and then convert to ADM format, download the file to an SD card (probably micro depending on your Garmin chartplotter model.) - put the SD card in the chartplotter and it will probably prompt you to upload, merge, or download. If there is no prompt - go to Nav Info - Manage Data - Data Transfer. or 2) If you have the gpx file on an SD card, you may be able to skip the Homeport app and go directly to the Chartplotter and it will convert to the ADM format. If you have data on the Chartplotter that you want to keep, take care regarding merge, replace, etc. Putting old data into Homeport at some point is good as you can change symbols etc. to match Garmins symbols.
Members Toby Estes Posted February 9, 2022 Members Posted February 9, 2022 I just did this last month. If you are wanting to put them on the humminbird units, you will want to download humminbird pc. This makes it easier. It changes it to the correct format. I searched YouTube for “transferring gpx files to humminbird “, there are some good videos on there. Pretty easy once you do it once or twice.
Targa98 Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 Thanks guys, I saw the videos of the hummingbird pc and couldn't do it from work so I am going to give that a shot tomorrow from home. This is the 1st one I've had to do to I'm pretty much a newbie but didn't think I was this new. LOL As far as the Garmin it is already all updated before I got it so I wasnt to worried about it. It is pretty much 100% dedicated to just Livescope. Again thank you guys a bunch
Jerry Rapp Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 I would first try a black/blue jig and then a red/shad worm. Good luck.
