Dutch Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 I’m in the process of cleaning reels for fall. I cleaned and oiled 6 of my Curados but have 2 Curado DC reels. I’ve never taken them apart and would rather not. I don’t want to send them off and be without them for a month.. Do any of you know a close reel tech?
rps Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 The only reel tech I know is a send off and get back a few weeks later.
Dutch Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 I have a couple of guys that I have sent reels to in the past but there was a significant amount of down time. I’m hoping for someone drivable, take them, then go back in a few days and get them not wait weeks like in the past.

There's a way to speed that process up substantially. It's called MORE MONEY. Look at it this way......Tearing down, cleaning, inspecting, and properly reassembling a reel is a miniature version of overhauling a transmission, or an outboard lower unit. Nobody should be expected to hurry up and get one done for a piddlyass twenty bucks. 1/2 of a reels value is far more reasonable. And if you have any difficulty finding someone to do a quality job at that rate......Bring them to me. 😁👍
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 The guy in town I used took a few weeks, but it isnt his full time gig either. So the best option is to order a couple new reels. Then take the old ones in and you'll have spares when they are ready fishinwrench 1
Dutch Posted September 5, 2022 Author Posted September 5, 2022 I already have spare Curados setting around. I don’t need any more. I service all of my reels except these DCs. I’m just a bit anxious about tearing into them. They aren’t dirty and probably only need a tad of oil on the spool and shaft bearings.
