This was my biggest on Monday. Bait was sitting motionless on the bottom and she really thumped it in 6' of water right next to my kayak. Shot a big puff of mud from her gills from inhaling the bait off the bottom when she hit the surface. Just a hair under 20". I'm still learning them but it really amazes me how many of the fish I catch on them are when it's completely motionless on the bottom.

Yep. Brown fish will just crush it at a dead stop too.

Have had a lot of K's get it on the end of a drop, I think. No thump, just there when you pick it up.

Used to hop a jig spoon that way too. Back before the big spoon craze. It'll surprise you.

My buddy Andy and I bought these off of lure parts on line. Then he paints them and I put the split rings, hooks, and eyes on them. That makes it even more fun to me....

No doubt.

All of mine are out of a basic Do It mold, except for a dozen or so old Silver Buddies.

You might look at the open shank trebles. They hook up fine, and eliminate the rings. One of those odd situations where a cheap bronze hook seems as good as others.

I do like Dave’s willow add on rather than an additional treble.

I will be trying that for sure  Thanks to you both for sharing!  What I need is another spoon box(I already have a “few”); now have to figure out what else I am leaving at the dock….

The willow deal is something I keep around for spring/summer. Can be useful on school fish, especially when they get weird about bait size. Have some hard baits set up for the same thing.

Haven't thrown it in cold water, but you'd think it would work. A Little George sure will.
