Quillback Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Fished with Dutch this morning, we launched early around 0515. We did some bank beating and fished a couple of gravel points to start and we picked some up on jigs, little swim baits and top water. Dutch caught a 2.5 lb. smallie which would be our big bass for the day. Our best bite was when we located some shad chasers off a cove entrance over deep water. We caught some of those on top and some on little swim baits. It was a bite every cast for a bit, but they eventually stopped biting and moved away. Had a couple of white bass attacks near the boat, Dutch caught a good one that was in that 2.5 lb. range, but the white bass were gone quickly to parts unknown before we ever could get into them. Later in the morning things shut down and we were off the water by 11 AM. We had 35 bass, 6 were keepers, a couple of white bass, and one keeper sized walleye. All fish were released. Dutch Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 It was a nice morning to be out. The holiday boat traffic was gone. We saw one skier and no bow riders burning gas. Thanks again for the trip. MarkG52 1
bferg Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Headed that way on Friday. This report is timely- thank you. Hopefully the topwater action holds on for the rest of the week.
