Al Agnew Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 The St. Francis walleye have the genetics to grow big, since they were stocked from fish hatched from eggs taken from Black River walleye. If you want big walleye, though, you're going to have to change the mentality of all the walleye anglers who think it's their God-given duty to kill every legal one they catch. top_dollar 1
jdmidwest Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Especially if they are hitting a suspending bait. Usually need to go deeper. Of course, St Francois is about as low as I have ever seen it. I plan on running the little jet boat in a few spots this winter targeting them specifically. There are a group in the area that nail them and stick knives in them. I just hope they leave me a few to enjoy. The ole Jack Salmon is back in the area. Now, MDC needs to work on restoring them in the Castor River. Used to catch them every summer when floating from our farm on the river to Gypsy. Now, the Block Hole and below seem to be where they stop. May run the little jet down on the lower end by Zalma this year for them too. snagged in outlet 3 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. I released the two that I caught. I know they are uncommon in the rivers. Stockton and table rock are the place for eater walleye!
