Well, we got my Archery 2023 buck back finally today.  I'm happy and it has a resting place. Pat and I have been bow hunting since 1980. We had three of our first deer mounted when you could do it for 150 bucks. Killed many firearms and archery deer since then but never got another done until this one. When I got this one, I told Pat how about a European mount. Like Heck she said it's going to be done right. Well prices have sure changed but worth it.

Found out something today I never knew.  The taxidermist asked me if this deer was killed in acorn timber. Yes, was there good crops available? Yes again. then see all those bumps on his antlers. Yes, well this is a sign of good forage. Then he showed me several river bottom deer. Antlers were as slick as could be. I looked it up this afternoon. Sure, enough it's a real thing. We never stop learning.

That is a good one and very interesting about the acorn crop creating those bumps on the antlers.  I knew the color of the antlers varied based on the type of trees the buck is rubbing on, but did not know about the forage causing bumps on the antlers.
