Do they have a Fall one? That time of the year I would be hard pressed to make it either.

And FYI-- the 2026 Expo will run two full days and will not be held until September.

everyone and their neighbor "loves going to bennett."

I don't. I've gone there only when it was "on the way to somewhere else" and that's less than ten times in my entire life.  I'm glad that others love it, that keeps them off the good places. I do recommend it to most people that ask.

If you schedule it in now-- September 11 and 12 in the Benson Center again--you might be able to do it. Sorry I didn't get to meet you.  Maybe next time...

Nope. Fall is already too full of things to do and places to go, but hope y'all have a good meet.

Springfield feels weird... couldn't support a fly shop in the long run

We did for years and years when there was a good one in town. The last owners were a bunch of twats that nobody wanted to buy from.

It was GREAT back in the day. I've spent a ton of time on Saturdays in there tying, chilling on an afternoon. People buying things, etc.

The last few times I went in there before it closed the only place i'd hear talked about was Bennett or Roaring River. "We killed 'em a few days ago, probably caught 60."

It definitely felt like they were supported but I guess it wasn't enough to keep them from changing owners a few times. Now it looks like a deck company is taking over the space.

I didn't know the last owners but it definitely wasn't the same as before when I got back from living out west.

I guess I'm spoiled and lazy...when we lived in Port Townsend, I would drive five minutes to catch coho off the beach, and searun cutthroat were a 20-minute drive to the boat launch and 10 minutes to get to the best spots.  Having said that, I attended the University of Montana where the hardcore guys would drive to Yellowstone to  hit the evening hatch, and that was something like a four-hour drive.  Didn't do that, but hit Rock Creek once in a while and that was a good hour away, and there a lot of good little streams between the two.

When I lived in WY most of my time was spent living 100 yards from one of my favorite little rivers. Granted an Hour there feels like nothing when it took that long almost just to get off our road we were on.

There, everyone wanted to fish the Snake, and it was good, but you could find some amazing water closer to home, smaller, and more real.

That said if I had the opportunity to float the Snake right now I'm there in a heartbeat.

We used to guide the headwaters of the snake in Yellowstone, it was only half a mile or so to the confluence of the Lewis, and that alone stopped most people from crossing. The next 5 - 7 miles just got even better the further you went.
